CU의 전체 주류 매출 신장률은 지난 2024년 13.7%에서 지난해 8.0%, 올해 1~7월 4.3%로 낮아졌다. 술을 마시는 횟수와 양이 줄면서 상품별로는 대용량 맥주가 먼저 밀려나고 있다. GS25의 올해 1~7월 페트맥주와 병맥주 판매량은 전년 동기 대비 각각 5%, 9% 감소했다. 반면 수입 캔맥주 판매량은 10% 증가했다. 1~2인 가구와 혼술·홈술이 늘면서 한 제품을 나눠 마시기보다 각자 원하는 캔맥주를 골라 마시는 소비가 자리 잡은 영향이다. 보관이 편하고 다양한 국내외 제품을 한 캔씩 경험할 수 있다는 점도 수요를 끌어올렸다. 편의점에서 술을 사는 횟수는 줄었지만 한 번 살 때 쓰는 돈은 늘었다. 세븐일레븐의 올해 1~7월 주류 구매 건수는 전년 동기 대비 5% 감소한 반면 건당 구매액은 6% 증가했다. 세븐일레븐에서는 평균 판매가격이 6907원인 소주 매출이 올해 1~7월 2% 감소한 반면 소주보다 평균 가격이 2배 이상 높은 전통주는 50%, 7배 이상 높은 와인은 20% 증가했다. 평균 판매가격이 6만5211원으로 소주의 9배를 웃도는 양주에 속하는 위스키 매출도 12% 늘었다. 자주, 많이 마시기보다 가격대가 높더라도 취향에 맞는 술을 고르는 소비가 건당 구매액을 끌어올린 것으로 분석된다. ■취하지 않거나 제대로 골라 마시거나 피처맥주와 소주 등 익숙한 대중 주류가 밀려난 자리는 무알코올·저도주와 프리미엄 주류가 채우고 있다. GS25의 올해 1~7월 무알코올 맥주와 칵테일소주 매출이 전년 동기 대비 각각 107.9%, 44.0% 증가했다. CU에서도 논알코올맥주와 하이볼이 각각 50.7%, 20.6% 늘었다. 적게 마시더라도 맛과 품질을 따지는 수요도 커졌다. GS25의 양주 매출은 11.3% 증가했고 CU의 사케와 증류식 소주는 각각 29.2%, 18.6% 늘었다. 위스키와 와인도 각각 13.3%, 12.4% 성장했다. 전통주는 젊은 층과 외국인이 찾는 취향형 주류로 부상했다. 세븐일레븐의 올해 전통주 매출은 전년 동기 대비 55% 증가했고 2021년보다 7배 늘었다. 2030세대 비중은 5년 전보다 8%p 상승한 36%를 기록했고 외국인 매출도 올해 48% 증가했다. 편의점들은 저도수와 프리미엄 전통주를 확대하고 있다. 세븐일레븐의 '윤남노 복담주'는 출시 일주일 만에 전통주 매출 1위에 올랐고 CU도 오는 26일 프리미엄 증류주 '신라주'를 선보인다. 편의점업계 관계자는 "최근에는 취하기보다 가볍게 분위기를 즐기거나 적게 마시더라도 취향과 품질에 맞는 술을 고르는 소비가 늘고 있다"고 말했다.。    MACON, Ga. -- A South Carolina man previously convicted of smuggling protected turtles between the United States and Hong Kong faces new allegations of turtle-related crimes in Georgia. His South Carolina lawyer has since died.Deputies were responding to a call about an abandoned dog in Macon when they noticed turtles being held in a basin nestled in a pile of trash, WMAZ-TV reports. They wrote in an incident report that a woman identified as Baker's mother told deputies that Baker had left the turtles with her about two months ago. The mother agreed to hand the turtles over to deputies, saying she had been unable to get her son to retrieve them.A veterinarian said the turtles were suffering from long-term malnutrition, bacterial and fungal infections, sepsis and shell deformities.The turtles included 11 rare albino red-eared sliders, one brown red-eared slider and two pink-bellied side necks. There was also a Chinese golden thread turtle, which is considered endangered in the wild, but is legal to breed in captivity.Baker pleaded guilty in 2018 to one count of conspiracy to smuggle wildlife in federal court in South Carolina after postal inspectors at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York found 46 turtles concealed among noodles and candy in four packages in early 2016. The turtles would be placed in socks and shipped through the mail in boxes labeled “snacks.”Five other men pleaded guilty in the South Carolina court case, but officials described Baker as the ringleader. Federal officials say Baker was sending turtles from the United States to Hong Kong, as well as receiving turtles from Hong Kong. It's illegal to trade turtles abroad without a permit when they are protected by a treaty called the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.Baker served more than two years in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release that ended in April 2022.Baker was also ordered to forfeit $263,225, which is what officials said the turtles were worth.。
