一 | (ECNS) -- The 6th Qinghai-Xizang Plateau Development Forum opened on Tuesday in Haiyan County, Haibei Zang Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Qinghai Province. Co-hosted by the China Tibetology Research Center, leading academic institutions and local governments, the two-day event brought together nearly 50 senior officials and prominent scholars from major universities and research institutes. Participants held in-depth discussions on promoting long-term stability and high-quality development across the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau under the framework of the Chinese path to modernization. Key topics included protecting the region as a vital national ecological security barrier, improving local livelihoods, promoting high-quality population development, integrating the development of national parks with surrounding communities, advancing rural revitalization following ecological relocation, and fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation. The forum aims to provide practical, evidence-based policy recommendations to support sustainable and locally adapted modernization across the plateau. Ma said the Chinese mainland offers a well-developed training system, professional coaching and a strong sporting environment for both professional athletes and young people who enjoy sports. Ma also recalled his first visit to Taiwan in late 2024 as part of a mainland university delegation. The group visited six universities, where he was pleased to find table tennis clubs and students who were enthusiastic about the sport. At the forum, Ma presented table tennis paddles to young players who took part in a cross-Strait youth table tennis exchange tournament, expressing hope that they would make more friends through the sport.
